Reds boss Lee Johnson has made a double loan swoop this afternoon ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with Walsall.
New Reds’ chief Johnson has signed Colchester United striker Jabo Ibehre and Cardiff City defence Declan John on loan until the end of the season.
Ibehre, 32, played for Johnson at his former club Oldham Athletic, while 19-year-old John is looking for regular first-team football having struggled to cement a regular starting place with the Bluebirds this season.
Both players could make their debuts at home to The Saddlers at Oakwell tomorrow with the Reds knowing a victory could see them climb into the play-off positions for the first time this season.
“I felt we needed the option to go two up front,” revealed Johnson, reflecting on Ibhere’s arrival in South Yorkshire.
“We’ve got Sam Winnall and George Waring, who have done really well, but I wanted to have both clubs in my bag as far as two big lads who get onto the ball.”
On left-back John’s arrival, Johnson added: “He’s young, but he’s a Wales international and played 20 Premier League games for Cardiff last year, so he’s reasonably experienced.”
