Reds striker Rhys Oates has joined Grimsby Town on a one-month loan deal.

The 19-year-old hitman has played just one minute of first team football this season having been used as a late second half substitute in the Reds 2-1 away win over Crewe.

Highly-rated at Oakwell, Oates is keen to get some games under his belt and has impressed on previous loan spells at Stockport County (last year) and at Gainsborough Trinity the previous season.

The Pontefract-born marksman, a product of the Barnsley Academy system, could make his debut for the Mariners away to Kidderminster Harriers tomorrow (Saturday).
