JIM O’Brien has hailed the arrival of striker Jason Scotland at Oakwell.

Barnsley have signed former Wigan, Swansea and Ipswich striker Scotland until the end of the season.

And the 33-year-old marksman needed just two minutes to net on his debut as the Reds, led by O’Brien’s man-of-the-match performance, romped to a 2-0 home win over Millwall on Tuesday.

“Jason is quality, you can see it straight away,” O’Brien told The Star.

“It’s great to get him. He only joined the day before the game, which is not long to bed in, but he’s off to a flyer. Hopefully we can come up with a few more.”

The Reds are unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions and have kept four clean sheets in those fixtures as their fine form continues. But tough away league matches against Blackpool, this Saturday, and then at Middlesbrough are just around the corner.

“It’s going well at the moment, everyone is coming to training with a smile on the face and we’re looking forward to every game,” added O’Brien. “The shift the lads put in against Millwall was unbelievable. The effort we’ve put in during the last six games has been incredible.

“The work has always been there, but we’re now learning how to win games when maybe things are not going perfect. We’re not giving up.”
