The Reds are two points adrift of safety with just four fixtures left to secure their Championship status, but they have a game in hand..

Scottish striker Oli McBurnie has stressed the Reds have “four finals left” and compatriot Lindsay has sent a rallying cry to the dressing room to pick up maximum points between now and the end of season.

Lindsay said: “Our fate is still in our own hands. We’ve got four games left and we want to win them all.

“We’ve got a game in hand so it’s totally in our hands still. We’ve just got to win every game and then it’s job done really. That’s what we’re focusing on and we all believe we can do it.

“The Championship’s a massive league. All the players want to keep playing at this level and progressing. No-one ever wants to drop down a league.”

Next up for Barnsley is their first encounter with ex-boss Paul Heckingbottom since he left the club to join Leeds United.

Most of the players heading to Elland Road joined the Reds under Heckingbottom’s stewardship, but Lindsay insists it will be business as usual as the club try to kick-start a survival run.

He said: “It doesn’t matter who we’re playing against or who the manager is, we need to win - as simple as that.

“I’m grateful he brought me to the club but it’ll be all business.”

“It’s a derby and of course it’ll give us a boost if we beat them, like beating Sheffield United, but we just need to win.”
