Head coach Paul Heckingbottom feels the international break could have come at just the wrong time for Barnsley.
The Reds stopped the rot after picking up just one point in six games prior to their victory at Brentford a few weeks ago.
Two battling draws against Bristol City and Burton Albion have followed and Heckingbottom believes the momentum could be halted with the extended rest period.
“We’ve started picking up points and the results are backing up the performances.
“So it could halt that momentum,” said Heckingbottom.
“We’d rather be playing every week, because we’re not playing Saturdays-Tuesdays.
“We’ve just got to hope we can keep that form going when we start playing again.”
n Barnsley’s Adam Armstrong - on loan from Newcastle United - bagged a hat-trick as England Under-20s made a winning start to the Continental Cup in South Korea on Wednesday in an 8-1 victory over Nigeria. Armstrong completed his Young Lions hat-trick in the 70th minute after scoring in the 20 and 27th minutes.
