The former Everton trainee has racked up an impressive 51 clean-sheets in 170 appearances in Barnsley colours since his move to Oakwell from Sheffield Wednesday more than four years ago.

The 26-year-old - who had never made a single competitive career appearance before he joined the Reds - now sits seventh in the club's all-time list of those to have achieved the most clean-sheets.

Davies could move above Barnsley hero David Watson - who kept goal when the Reds achieved promotion to the top-flight for their first and only time in their history in 1997. 'It's nice to hear,' smiled Davies when he learned of his achievement. 'It is nice, I don't try to concentrate on that too much. But when my time comes up here at Barnsley, whenever that may be, it would be nice to kind of be in the records somewhere and stake my place here.

'It'll be nice to look back on and think, '˜Yeah, I had a real good time there'.' The shot-stopper, who is yet to be capped internationally but was called up to the Wales squad last month, has been backed as "calm and confident" by assistant head coach Andreas Winkler and will be hopeful of more '˜shutouts' starting with the visit of Plymouth. The Pilgrims are the first of two tough tests for different reasons this week, as the Devonshire outfit arrive in South Yorkshire winless so far this season, before Daniel Stendel's side travel to second-placed Peterborough on Saturday. The Barnsley shot-stopper would, however, sacrifice the climbing of the club's all-time list of clean -sheet holders to pick up maximum points. 'It's just about the three points,' continued Davies. 'Obviously clean-sheets are nice and it's a good basis to win games but the main point is just to try and win the game. 'I think this season a lot of games that we've played are just to try and implicate our game onto teams and not worry too much about them. 'We're just trying to concentrate on what we can do, just play our game as best we can and win. 'It's my aim to play as many games as I can,' he added. 'I've only got a year left here so we're going to have to talk and see what happens. For the time being, my commitment is just to get this club back into the Championship and finish this season as strong as we can.'
