Barnsley boss Danny Wilson is “hopeful” of agreeing a loan extension for Fulham winger Ryan Williams.
Australian Williams joined the Reds on an initial one-month deal on the 2nd October, but his loan is due to expire on Sunday.
That means Williams’ last game is meant to be this weekend’s South Yorkshire derby clash with Sheffield United.
But Wilson has been impressed with Williams and is hopeful of keeping the 21-year-old for longer.
“We’re in dialogue with Fulham about extending Ryan’s deal,” revealed Wilson.
“Hopefully that will be sorted before the weekend, but if not next week.
“We’d like him to stay on because he’s done really well. He’s given us a different dimension to our game and has enjoyed himself.
“We’d definitely like to keep him because he’s slotted in very well. He’s got better in every game he’s played and he is a constant threat.
“He works very hard for the team, so we’d like to do something as soon as we can.”
