Barnsley boss Danny Wilson has effectively ruled out signing any new loan players.
Wilson has six loan players at his disposal and can use only five of those players in his match day squad at any one time.
Strikers Marcus Pedersen and Nick Proschwitz, defenders Peter Ramage, Ryan McLaughlin and Jack Hunt have all signed for the Reds on loan until the end of the season.
And Stoke City loan winger Brek Shea is with Wilson’s side until April 3 after his 28-day loan was extended to the maximum 93-day duration. “We can’t do much now because we can only use those five players at any one time” Wilson told The Star.
“If we did bring in anybody in then it would be shuffling things around and rotating players, which is not really what I want to do.
“You never say never because of injuries, but for now I’m really happy with the players we’ve got in.
“It’s a big game for us against Ipswich [on Saturday]. Mick’s [McCarthy] sides are always tough to beat, but hopefully we can make home advantage count.
“They’ve found their feet with him and made real progress under him this season after a tough start.”
Club stalwart Bobby Hassell, midfielder Kelvin Etuhu and Norway international marksman Pedersen all had run outs in a friendly with Preston North End at Oakwell on Tuesday. Hassell has been sidelined with a calf injury, while Etuhu and Pedersen have been hampered by hamstrings injuries which have blighted their season.
But Wilson is hopeful all three players will be available for for the visit of the Tractor Boys.
New signing Emmanuel Frimpong will miss the fixture, suspended for one match after his two yellow cards last time out against Sheffield Wednesday, as will fellow midfielder Jacob Mellis who is banned for three games for a straight red card. Meanwhile, free agent and former Sheffield United defender Lecsinel Jean-Francois remains on trial at Oakwell.
