Barnsley: Bahre remains confident as Reds rediscover that winning feeling

The Reds ended a 120-day wait for a win – going back to the win over Fulham on the opening day of the season – as they beat Hull 3-1 at Oakwell.

It brought victory in Gerhard Struber's first home game at the helm and cut the gap to Championship safety to five points.

But moreover for Bahre, who scored a fine second goal, it gave him and his team-mates a rare Saturday night that they could enjoy.

“Just to get that feeling of winning a game was what we needed,” the German, a staunch ally of former boss Daniel Stendel, said.

“It did not matter how.

“We just needed that one win and I am confident it can be a turning point.

“We have had some good performances, but not results and everyone was in the changing room and upset and disappointed.

“But here we showed great faith and everyone is buzzing, it is the best feeling.

“Everybody was working for each other and if we carry on in this way, I am still confident we will stay in this league.”

It was just as long a wait for the club's fans, who have suffered their fair share this season.

Boss Struber was delighted to deliver for them.

“The support from the fans is always important but now very important and I’m happy with our fans,” the Austrian said.

“The next week we have a long week.

“I hope the next game away, we have a top performance again.”

Barnsley travel to Cardiff this coming weekend.
