Aapo Halme scored a dramatic last-minute equaliser to salvage a point for Barnsley in a 1-1 draw at home to West Bromwich Albion after Filip Krovinović had put the Championship leaders in front early on.

The visitors opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Barnsley keeper Sami Radlinger’s poor clearance falls straight to Krovinović.

He took two touches and fired over the keeper into an empty net from 25 yards.

Barnsley had the opportunity to get back level when Conor Chaplin found himself free down the left and his cross was parried by Sam Johnstone only as far as Cauley Woodrow whose shot was blocked inside the area.

Johnstone kept Albion ahead with a wonderful save from Jacob Brown’s volley.

Although Barnsley had most of the first half possession, West Brom still looked dangerous going forward.

Barnsley's Mads Andersen saw his header hit the bar following a corner.

Charlie Austin could have made it 2-0 five minutes from the interval, after a defensive mistake, but Radlinger made a save.

Chaplin then had a shot from 10 yards saved.

The Reds applied pressure but their final ball was often found wanting.

Luke Thomas' curling effort from just inside the box forced another save out of Johnstone.

Barnsley equalised in the last minute when a Chaplin cross was tapped in by Halme to make it just one loss in six games for Gerhard Struber’s men.
