Askern end unbeaten run

JIM Garbutt and Mick O'Brien (21-8) secured Armthorpe a 69-63 Doncaster Bowls Association Doubles League Division One win over Pilks Recreation.

Armthorpe lost their unbeaten record in the last match of the season as Eddie Curtis and Archie Faulkner won 21-2 for Askern to help the home side win 73-54.

Eddie Birdsey and Cec Fowler (21-1) and Des Crowcroft and Colin Morris (21-7) were the best pairs for Thorne in their 84-36 Division Three win over Harvester. Westield Park B lost 84-44 at home to Elmfield Park.

Woodlands Park suffered a narrow 77-76 defeat at home to Wickersley. Carcroft lost out 74-66 at Hexthorpe Flatts.

Danny Hallas and Jocky Sanderson won 21-8 as Woodlands Park clinched the league title with an 84-58 victory at Yorkshire Main B.

Westfield Park B posted an 83-68 win over Wickersley.

Armthorpe C had good wins from Charlie Cox and Bill McMahon (21-3) and Jean Winchcombe and Neil Garrett (21-4) as they beat Brodsworth B 73-49 in Division Four.

Adwick B beat Thorpe Marsh Bentley B 73-67 win.

Moira Robb and John Marshall (21-6) were the only winners for Tickhill B but they did enough to secure their side a 73-69 victory over Bentley.

Alan Wilby and Derek Erridge (21-7) were the only winners for Tickhill B as Denaby B won the Division Four title with wins by Alan Scott and Terry Goodwin (21-9) and Joe Walton and Adam Jones (21-5) earning them a 70-49 win.
