Armthorpe lose out individually

DESPITE their dominance in team competitions in the Doncaster Bowls Association, Armthorpe had to take second place to Pilkingtons Recreation in the individual stakes.

Pilks won no less than than six of the thirteen trophies on offer, with Barry Connolly establishing himself as the current Doncaster No 1 with no less than four trophy wins - the Gents Merit, the Doubles, Triples and Hospice Competitions.

His team-mate Mick Reilly prevented him making it a nap hand when he defeated Barry in the Champion of Champions final, adding that trophy to his own win in the Individual Merit.
