Anxious wait for Rebecca

REBECCA Hudson faces an anxious wait today to see if she is named as one of the three wild cards for Europe's Solheim Cup team.

The Doncaster golfer, from Wheatley GC, had a great chance to secure a coveted place automatically but suffered two poor final rounds in the Wales Ladies Championship of Europe at Machynys Peninsula at the weekend.

Having shot a seven under par 65 to stand nine under after two rounds and so lead by three strokes, she had a great chance of winning and certainly finishing in the top three that would have guaranteed a Solheim Cup place.

But she finished sixth with rounds of 74 and 76 to close on 285, three off the winner and two strokes off making herself an automatic choice for the team by taking a top five qualifying Solheim Cup place.

Now, with nine of the 12 places in the team decided, she has to wait for today's announcement from Sweden by captain Helen Alfredsson of the three remaining wild card picks.

Europe take on the United States in Halmstad, Sweden, from September 14 to 16.
