Anderson preparing for a stern test at Peterborough

Nine months on from that 1-0 loss to Peterborough United at the Proact, Anderson and the Spireites travel to London Road to take on League One’s sixth-placed side.

Anderson is well aware of the strengths possessed by Grant McCann’s side, who in Marcus Maddison have the player with the most assists in the division.

“They’re a good team, they’re in the play-off positions,” said Anderson.

“Every game is a tough game, we’ve just got to make sure we’re at it, put in a good performance like Tuesday at Rochdale and get a result.

“Peterborough was my first game last year, I’ve seen them a few times since, we’ll have to be at it.”

The Posh are known as a footballing side who try to pass the ball from back to front and that brings a different challenge for Anderson and his defensive partners, who are perhaps more used to dealing with aerial bombardments.

“You’ve got to be switched on for everything they throw at you,” he said.

“If there are bodies moving everywhere you have to be talking to each other and passing players on.”

Town may have crashed out of the FA Cup in devastating fashion last weekend with that 5-0 defeat by Wycombe, but in recent weeks they’ve ended a worrying losing streak, won five out of seven and earned six points from their last two league outings.

It’s as much a relief for Spireites fans as it is for Anderson’s loved ones, who had to cope with his grumpiness when defeat followed defeat.

“It’s not what you want, it’s about winning, you’ve got to win, no one likes to lose, it’s not a nice feeling at all,” he admitted.

“Go and ask my mum or my missus what I’m like, it’s not nice but you can’t help it.

“You’ve got to move on and focus on the next game and do what you can in that.”
