Gary Caldwell was dismissed seven times in his career, earning four red cards in Premier League games alone.

At the time, Town were 1-0 up, but the 10 remaining Spireites went on to lose 2-1.

Chesterfield’s manager said the 23-year-old has bounced right back in training and revealed the words of wisdom he passed on.

“He’s been fine, he comes in every day and works extremely hard,” said the Scot.

“I’ve been sent off many times myself so I said to him you’re a defender, it’s going to happen.

“You need to be strong mentally, get over it and come back.”

Anderson missed Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at Millwall through suspension and is available for selection again today when Oxford visit the Proact.

The red card was his second of the season, having been given his marching orders in an EFL Trophy game earlier in the campaign.
