Ennis finishes runner-up

World heptathlon fourth-placer Jessica Ennis has capped her fine season with second place in the IAAF World Combined Events Challenge standings.

The final standings of the multi-events series were determined after the meeting at Talence, France, last weekend, with World Championships silver medallist Lyudmila Blonska (Ukraine) taking the title with 19,895 points.

The Sheffield AC starlet accumulated 19,256 points to clinch the runners-up spot, thanks to her 6388 in Italy in May; 6399 in the European Cup in Poland in July; and 6469 for fourth at the Worlds in Osaka, Japan last month.
