CYCLING will have another day in the sun tomorrow night as the British Cycling Circuit Race Series hits the streets of Sheffield city centre.

Hot on the pedals of Bradley Wiggins’ epic Tour de France victory the best domestic talent will be on show in what is the strongest line up of the race series so far this season.

The action, accompanied by live commentary, begins at 7pm when the women will race for 55 minutes with the winner crowned National Criterium Champion.

From 8.30pm, the final round of the men’s Elite Circuit Series will see all the top teams battle for the title.

RST Racing Team is a Sheffield-based team (Thomas Steward, Daniel Storey and Matthew Sumpton), as is Sheffrec CC (James Allen) and Langsett Cycles RT (Jamie Burgan and Danny Lowthorpe). The local junior hope is Ashley Proctor from Sheffield.

In the women’s race Penny Rowson from Dore, who came second last month in the under-23 national championship, and junior rider Jessie Walker (daughter of ex-pro and two-time national champ Chris Walker). The one to beat though is Coventry-based Lucy Garner, the current junior World Champion.
