Eagles-Rams in play-off crunch

SHEFFIELD Eagles face Dewsbury Rams tomorrow at Tetley's Stadium (3pm) in a battle to claim the sixth play-off spot in the Co-Operative National League One.

The Eagles sit just one point above The Rams in the league and coach Mark Aston is promising the game will be a cracker.

"There's no love loss between the two sides," he said. "They're very local and there is a lot of rivalry.

"They had the upper hand on us last year when they won the league, but we'll be looking to turn the tables for this season."

Aston is set to name an unchanged 17 from the club's encounter with Rochdale last weekend, but says he may switch things around to keep the squad fresh.

"At this point in the season you generally know who your best 17 are," Aston added.

"We may shuffle it round so some different players start and others come from the interchange bench just to keep the element of surprise there."

Aston's only injury worry is winger Greg Hurst who has missed the past two games with a hamstring injury.

Dewsbury have far greater problems in the treatment room. Sid Domic, signed from Hull FC just before the transfer deadline, has called time on his career early having broken three ribs and Martin Robinson and Dominic Maloney are also doubts for the crunch clash.

Dewsbury coach Andy Kelly says Sunday's clash will not decide who takes the final play-off spot - but it will give one team a major advantage in the race for sixth place.
