DONCASTER’S Rob Boston produced two top 10 finishes in the final round of the 2011 Air Asia Renault Clio Cup held on the 2.4 mile Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in Kent.
Making a return to the competition in the JHR Developments (Jamie Hunter Racing) Clio, Boston qualified in 10th place in a time 1 minute 40 seconds.
Boston, who said later that he found it hard getting used to the Clio again (with it being front wheel drive) after doing a couple of seasons in the Mazda MX5 series, got off to a good start, and started to make inroads from the outset.
As the 14-lap race progressed, Boston continued to make his way up through the field but could only achieve eighth in a time of 25 minutes 30 seconds.
Boston started from 12th in the second race of the day, again getting off the line well and mixing it with those ahead.
But despite amazing overtaking he again had to settle for eighth place.
Boston says he is hoping to be back completing on a more regular basis in next year’s Clio Championship.
