Hislop will compete with Richard List and Joe Sproston for the number one jersey.

The 24-year-old becomes the third player this summer to make the switch from Rotherham to Doncaster, following in the footsteps of centre Lloyd Hayes and full-back Sean Scanlon.

Hislop has spent three seasons at Clifton Lane, featuring in Rotherham’s play-off campaigns in 2013/14 and 2014/15.

The young Scot developed through the academy of Edinburgh Rugby and then made a handful of first team appearances in the European Cup and Pro12 before a broken leg slowed his progress.

He has also represented Scotland at Under 17, 18 and 20 levels, captaining the U20s.

Hislop told Knights’ official website: “I’m delighted to be joining Doncaster.

“They’ve obviously just had a really good season so there is a real buzz and hunger about the place to kick on into next season and I’m really looking forward to getting started and meeting up with the lads”

“The Knights have one of the best forward packs in the league, so I am looking forward to being a part of that and hopefully adding to it.”

Director of rugby Clive Griffiths said: “We are very fortunate to secure the services of Robin.

“He will bring a sharp competitive edge to our front row play and provide healthy competition for places.

“Robin knows the Championship inside out and gives valuable experience up front as well as knowing all about opposition territory.”

Hooker Harry Allen, second row Ed Falkingham, lock David Nolan and back row Jarad Williams have also joined Knights for the 2016/17 season.
