DONCASTER BOWLS: Wilson wins 21-2 as Park rally

WOODLANDS Park came from behind to win beat Roundwood 180-140 in their Doncaster Bowls Association Saturday League Section A clash.

Thomas Boyd (21-7), Dave Patrickson junior (21-8) and Martin Wilson (21-2) all shone for Park with Peter Roddis (21-9) being the best winner for Roundwood.

Christine Cox and Barbara O’Brien (both 21-8) and John Dean and Mick Cox (both 21-4) ensured Mexborough of a comfortable 192-137 win over Thorpe Marsh Bentley.

Barry Binks (21-8) stood out for Bawtry in their 204-169 win over Thorpe Marsh Bentley.

Roundwood’s title hopes all but disappeared as Terry O’Brien (21-9) and Mark Davies (21-2) helped Mexborough to a 186-166 victory.

Woodlands Park crushed opponents Pilkingtons Recreation 210-79 with big wins from Mick Boyd (21-7), John Richardson and Rachel Wass (both 21-4), Jocky Sanderson (21-3), Sarah Fox (21-6), Dave Patrickson senior (21-9) and Dave Topham (21-5).

Champions-elect Westfield Park lost their unbeaten record in the last Section B match of the season despite a 21-9 win from Graham Garnett as Mick Corby (21-9), Malc Warren (21-4) and Ryan Lysons (21-6) steered league runners-up Carcroft to a 179-142 victory.

Adwick’s domination of Section C continued with Jean Hopson (21-9) the principal of another big win (205-151) over Roundwood C.

Dave Smith recorded a 21-6 win for Hexthorpe in their 198-151 win over Parklands B.

Geoff Ball (21-6), Paul Raleigh (21-3) and John Adnitt (21-6) were the pick of the winners as Wickersley clinched the league runners-up spot with a 210-114 victory over Adwick B.

Brian Turner (21-7) was the best winner for Thorne in their 202-139 victory and they require just two points from their last two matches to claim the Section D title.

Last man Graham Kendell’s 21-9 win for Harvesters left little impression on the match after Irene Burton (21-4) and Graham Poole (21-7) had won comfortably for Carcroft B, who ran out 194-148 victors.

Dennis Walton won 21-7 for the Pensioners, but Pilkingtons Recreation B won the local derby (188-133) with good scores from Dave Wootton (21-7), Tony Blanchard (21-4), Kelley Rumney (21-7) and Craig Rumney (21-9).

Hexthorpe B had good wins from Phil Eshelby (21-5) and Alan Marsden (21-8), but husband-and-wife pairing Eric (21-8) and Josie (21-6) Bubb gave Westfield Park B a rare (156-150) win over their derby rivals.

Peter Lawrence (21-1), Dave Matthews (21-4) and Alan Marsden (21-4) shone for Hexthorpe B in their 177-122 win over Carcroft B.
