BAWTRY posted a 192-144 Doncaster Bowls Association Saturday League Section A win over visiting Pilks Recreation.

Ted Owens (21-9) and Len Squire and Barry Binks (both 21-5) were on good form for Bawtry.

Mexborough pipped derby rivals Denaby 177-173.

Eric Wright’s 21-8 win made little difference for Thorpe Marsh Bentley after Roundwood claimed the first six winners, including Brian Bramley (21-9) and Colin Draper (21-4), to record their first away win (192-159) of the season.

Ken Crowcroft’s 21-9 win for Yorkshire Main in their 191-176 away victory at Thorpe Marsh Bentley, was matched by Eric Wright.

Parklands recorded a 193-163 Section B win at Armthorpe. Tarsen Sambhi (21-7), Jeff Bourke (21-8) and Mick Corby (21-9) all won well as Carcroft consolidated second place in the league table with a 203-117 victory over Rossington.

Roundwood B beat Maltby Main 196-190 in a game remarkable for the fact that no less than six of the ten individual games finished 21-20, with another 21-19. Dave Rogers won 21-5 as Westfield Park made it 11 wins out of 11 when beating Eden Grove-Peglers 198-141. Eric Watkinson rounded off Roundwood C’s 197-169 Section C victory at Adwick B with a 21-3 win.

Chris Haigh (21-5) laid the foundations of Hexthorpe’s 199-159 win over Askern. Parklands B, who beat Brodsworth 185-162, won for only the second time this season thanks to Derek Gabbitus (21-9) and George McLean (21-4).

Wickersley VC had their home match against Yorkshire Main B won by halfway after good scores from Geoff Ball (21-9), Paul Raleigh (21-8), Mike Rimmington (21-3) and Brian Roberts (21-8).

John Hall won 21-8 for Carcroft B, but with Jack Brown winning by the same score for Rossington B the visitors claimed the Section D spoils (185-159). Bev Shannon (21-7), Shaun Knowles (21-8) and Keith Wright (21-4) all contributed to only Westfield Park B’s second win (200-123) of the season at home to Pilks Pensioners.

Pilkingtons Rec B had big wins from Daniel Evans (21-9), Liam O’Brien and Paul Rumney (both 21-3), John Egbury (21-9), Calum O’Brien (21-5), John O’Brien (21-6) and John Armstrong (21-5) as they romped to a 197-103 victory over Westfield Park B. Norrie Love (21-4) and George Brackenbury (21-8) caught the eye for Bawtry B, while last man John Drysdale had a consolation 21-7 win for Pilks Pensioners, beaten 185-136.

Michael Evans (21-8), John Armstrong (21-8), Rob Thompson (21-9) and Calum O’Brien (21-4) were the best winners for Pilkingtons Rec B in their 183-137 success against Hexthorpe B.
