SHEFFIELD’S Adam Blythe turned in another excellent performance yesterday to finish the Tour of Qatar in fourth place.

With Britain’s former world champion and Tour de France green jersey winner Mark Cavendish winning the stage for the fourth day in a row - and taking the overall race victory - Blythe was fourth on the 116 kilometre ride from Sealine Beach Resort to Doha Corniche.

The 23-year-old has set his sights on performing well in the season’s spring classics. Much like Rotherham’s Ben Swift, Blythe is an all-round rider who has a strong sprint finish. Four place in Qatar will be the perfect boost for the rest of his year.

Rotherham’s Russell Downing finished 85th overall in his first race of his new team NetApp Endura.
