Ben Swift is in fourth place heading into today’s tough third stage at the Bayern-Rundfahrt in Germany.
The 25-year-old from Rotherham finished yesterday’s 194.5 kilometre second stage from Mühldorf to Viechtach in the leading group and is four seconds behind Daryl Impey at the top of the general classification.
It was another impressive ride by Swift over a testing course that suited climbers more than the sprinters such as himself.
Today is another difficult route over 196.8km from Viechtach to Kelheim.
A series of climbs are likely to break up the peloton and Swift will have to be in top form if he’s to go into tomorrow’s time-trial within sight of the leaders. The race ends on Sunday in Nurnberg.
