DONCASTER Town Cricket Club are mourning the death of stalwart George Jessop.
Mr Jessop, who was President of the Town Fields club from 1969 until his retirement in 2009, passed away in his sleep aged 84
“His service to Doncaster Town CC spanned over 55 years, and despite not being able to come to games in recent years, he was a very keen supporter of the club,” said secretary Steve Ward. “He kept in touch with me by telephone and was always wanting to know the latest news.
“I would like to pass on, both mine, and the club’s, deepest condolences to George’s family and friends. He will be sorely missed by everyone connected with the club.”
