The infamous spat between James Anderson and Ravindra Jadeja has given England extra motivation to win their Test series against India, Sheffield’s Joe Root has admitted.
Jadeja and Anderson have become the best of enemies since their altercation earlier in the series, and the drama has continued throughout the series - which concludes with the final Test at the Oval, which begins today.
England lead the series 2-1, and Root admitted: “The whole thing gave us another incentive to want to throw a punch back at them
“We’ve stayed really tight as a side even when we were struggling at Lord’s, but that incident did make us slightly more tight. We didn’t let it affect us, and it is exciting to be in a position we haven’t been in for a while.”
