ORGANISERS of cricket coaching nets for youngsters in South Yorkshire face the prospect of having to scrap them.

The nets, which have been running for 60 years and have included some youngsters who have gone on to play for Yorkshire, have been organised by Wombwell Cricket Lovers Society.

This is the first time they have been in danger of not going ahead due to a lack of numbers. The Society’s nets cater for young cricketers throughout the age groups up to the age of 18 but they need at least 30 youngsters to take part and only just over half that number have registered.

They are due to start at Bawtry Road Indoor cricket centre on Sunday, January 6.

The Society would like to hear from any young cricketers, parents or clubs, who are interested in receiving coaching.

The one and a half hour sessions on Sunday mornings will run from January 6 through to March.

Those interested should contact the Society’s coaching co-ordinators John or Beryl Ambler on 01226 747516 or email
