Panesar back in England favour

Have your say

AFTER a two-year test absence, Monty Panesar has been included in England’s squad to face Pakistan in the three Test series in the United Arab Emirates in January and February.

The left-arm spinner’s last Test appearance was in July 2009 but he goes as second spinner to Graeme Swann in the 16-strong party.

Conditions expected to be spin friendly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Yorkshire’s Tim Bresnan, who has had elbow surgery, is included whilst Ravi Bopara gets a call into the squad.

The selectors decided to take a spare wicketkeeper in Steven Davies rather than an additional bowler and have recalled Chris Tremlett.

The tall fast bowler has not figured since suffering a back injury before last July’s Test against India at Trent Bridge.
