Meaker wickets level it for Lions

Have your say

Four wickets from Stuart Meaker set England Lions on their way as they levelled their seven-match one-day series with Bangladesh A at 1-1.

The Surrey fast bowler helped bowl out Bangladesh for 176 despite Nazimuddin’s unbeaten 99.

Jonny Bairstow led the Lions’ chase (50 not out from 65 balls) with an unbeaten half-century as they wrapped up a six-wicket win with 12 and a half overs to spare.

Graham Onions was there at the start of England’s assault on the International Cricket Council’s Test rankings - and now he wants a piece of the action as an official world-beater.

The 29-year-old is in the frame again as England prepare for their first Test since being presented with the ICC’s silver mace as the top-ranked Test team.

Onions, whose international career has been plagued by injury, was added to England’s squad to face Pakistan in three Tests in the United Arab Emirates after Tim Bresnan had to fly home with post-operative elbow pain.
