A blistering half-century from Alex Lees propelled Yorkshire Vikings to a comfortable victory over Derbyshire in the Natwest T20 blast last night.

Much hype in the build up to the game at Headingley centered on the debut of Australian star Aaron Finch, but he was overshadowed by Lees as Yorkshire won convincingly by eight wickets, with six overs remaining.

Chasing a seemingly below-par 127 - Liam Plunkett and Adil Rashid sharing two wickets each, with captain Wayne Madsen’s unbeaten 34 the highest score for Derbyshire - Yorkshire were never in trouble, despite losing their own skipper Andrew Gale for seven with the score on 22.

Finch bludgeoned a huge six before being dismissed for 19, but Lees (61* and Jonny Bairstow (29*) saw them easily over the line.
