Hercules lives up to his name with century

Stainborough top-scored in Division One, reaching 255-6 at the Conisbrough ground with the aptly-named Ryan Hercules hammering 101, one of only two century-makers of the day.

Phil Archer added 59 and Josh Abson 40, against the attack of Oliver Jackson and Matt Frost, with three wickets each. Conisbrough then stalled at 168-9, openers Jon Phillips and Jack Whittaker hitting 60 and 49, best bowler for Stainborough being Jon McLee, 5-57.Thorncliffe batted strongly at Mexborough, making 248-9 with half-tons from Mike Denton and Dale Weldon, with Steve Honeyman earning 7-95 for the home outfit, who folded for 91, with four wickets each for Kieran Pearce and Jordan Honson. Elsecar got rid of South Kirkby for 154, Connor Harvey cracking 55 and teenager Jack Shutt claiming 4-39 for the guests, who fell for 138, their wickets shared by Harvey and Dean Wolsey. Taj Mahal’s modest 147-9 was ample against Bradfield, shot out for 52, Shahzada Shahbaz claiming 6-36 and Ashiq Khan 4-15. Best bowling for Bradfield came from Hennie Swart, 5-11.

In Division Two, Darfield closed on 167,Lewis Thorpe 43, and Roy Nelson returning 5-59 for visitors Rossington, sent packing for 156, Andy Gardiner 40, teenager Jack Pepper bagging 5-38. Fishlake set a target of 200 for guests Brodsworth, who were whipped out for 95, Pearson claiming 3-9. Sprotborough dished out a beating to Sheffield Transport, Adam Aveling, 44, and Tom Kaye, 43, top bats in their 208-9,the busmen then stopped in their tracks for 92,their last five batsmen making only four runs between them, against the skills of Rob Edmundson, 6-16. Upper Haugh rushed out Hoylandswaine for 97, to win by seven wickets, Jordan Foster 49. Tickhill were imprsssive winners at Warmsworth,making 228, thanks to a knock of 125 from opener Steve Wibberley, the home squad skittled for 58 by Joe Senior, 5-28, and Joel Martin,4-24.

In Division Three, Dearne came in at 146-9, Rob Hart 46, then had Glasshoughton back in the pavilion for 116, Alex Clemmo adding 63 to his earlier 3-27, and the losers’ wickets shared by Hart and Nathan Hall, each with three victims. Kilnhurst held Thurgoland to 118-5 and knocked off the runs for one wicket, Dave Plummer 68no and Danny Whithouse 46. Stocksbridge shot out Thorncliffe for 123, youngster Jake Vickers claiming 4-23, and replied with 124-2, Jake Murfin 45 and Pete Broomhead 40no.
