Fishlake get back on track in impressive style

FISHLAKE bounced back from two defeats the previous weekend with a nine-wicket win at Crofton in Pontefract League Division One.

Tom Webster (4-29) limited strugglers Crofton to 151-9 and Josh Denby (73 not out) and 15-year-old Ryan Pearson (64 not out) shared an unbroken 143-run stand as Fishlake knocked off the runs.

Sprotbrough maintained their Division Two promotion bid by crushing Barnby Dun.

Phil Decent (22) and Jamie Salter (20 not out) were the only batsmen who made an impact as Barnby were toppled for 96 by Sprotbrough’s new signing Steve Honeyman junior (5-19 from 10.2 overs) and Mike Threapleton (2-36). In reply, Ben Lyons hit 58 before the Kaye brothers - Adam (20 not out) and Tom (15 not out) - sealed an eight-wicket win.

Askern continued their climb by winning a low-scoring game at Wombwell Main.

Andrew O’Grady (26) gave Askern a solid start before they collapsed from 71-2 to 113 all out.

Wombwell’s reply was soon in deep trouble at 0-2 and 33-5 and, despite a mini-revival, they fell for 109.

Askern’s Josh Gillies claimed 5-27 from 12 overs and Gareth Williams snapped up 3-21 from 14. Chasing Hemsworth’s 196-6, Hatfield Town’s reply fell short on 145-9, despite Nick Page’s 36 and Andy Cutts’ 28.

Thorne Colliery lost ground on their Division Three promotion rivals when they unable to raise a team for their match at Frickley Colliery A.

Lowly Sykehouse slipped to a three-wicket defeat against West Bretton.

Phil Townsend (54) top-scored in Sykehouse’s total of 102 which West Bretton overhauled, despite Phil Sanders’ 5-40.

Brodsworth Main stayed on course for promotion in Division Four with a six-wicket win at Newton Hill who were routed for 106 by Karl Buxton (5-19) and Adrian Price (5-33).

Second-placed Brodsworth remain 11 points clear of Peglers who won by 125 runs at Ryhill.

Bullcroft Main kept alive their promotion hopes by beating bottom side Stainborough A. Matthew Vickerage (82) steered Bullcroft to 197-5 and Stainborough were bowled out for 169 in reply.

Kevin Pearson (54no) and Nick Shaw (48) led Fishlake A to a three-wicket success against South Kirkby A. Steve Ashworth hit 63 as Bentley Colliery eased their relegation worries by beating Ferrybridge Power Station by five wickets.

In Division Five, Sprotbrough A won by seven wickets at Barnby Dun A, who were restricted to 148-9 by Adam Buxton (4-19).

Hatfield A’s Division Six promotion hopes suffered a setback when they lost by four wickets at Hundhill Hall A.

Craig Pattison (57) and Ellis Pattison (46) were Hatfield’s top scorers.

Fenwick won by 49 runs at Glasshoughton A in their Division Seven clash, but Askern A lost by six wickets to Stanley A.

Brodsworth Main A and Peglers A collected maximum points in Division Eight by defeating Eggborough Power Station and Ryhill A respectively, but Bentley A were beaten at Thorpe Audlin A.
