ELSECAR claimed the glory in the Yorkshire Cricket Council Championship play-off final, beating Methley by two wickets at Armroyd Lane.

Having won the toss, Methley elected to bat first and posted 204-9 from their 45 allocated overs. Opener Nick Connolly hit 101 while Rob Jones finished with figures of 3-46 for Elsecar.

In reply, Elsecar raced to 152-3 before the middle order collapsed to 178-8.

But wicketkeeper Andy Joburns rebuilt the innings and he struck a quickfire 20 runs from 11 balls, including two sixes, to see the hosts home with two overs to spare.
