England look for some solace

Have your say

ENGLAND will aim to end their disastrous trip to India on a winning note today.

In the process they will have to live up to their billing as the No 1 team in Twenty20 cricket when they take on India in Kolkata today.

This year’s rankings came out this week putting England, the World Twenty20 champions, in top spot and they will need to matcjh that ranking after the mauling they have taken in the 5-0 whitewash in the 50 overs series which ended on Tuesday.

Spinner Graeme Swann admits that some of India’s players are disliked by England but says the ‘sledging’ hasn’t been over the top or personal.

“However, I can assure you the comments and personal abuse Samit Patel has received from the Indian players is far worse than anything we’ve said.” added Swann.

“We have played India for three months now, back in England and here, and you’re never going to like all 11 blokes in the opposition.”
