DONCASTER Town coasted to an eight-wicket win over visiting Wath in their Barnsley Cricket League Division One clash at Town Fields.
A 5-28 spell by junior Elliott Wilson helped Town restrict Wath to 133-7 in their 40 overs. Opener Mark Lockwood (56 not out) and junior Cory Dere (40) laid the foundations for Town’s reply of 134-2 in 36.3 overs.
Sprotbrough thirds collected a four-point winning draw in their Division Two clash at Brodsworth Main fourths.
Batting first after winning the toss, Sprotbrough made 171-6 with No 4 Ash Ward (46 not out) and No 8 Michael Threapleton (36 not out) leading the way. Karl Buxton took 3-36.
Main, for whom junior Josh Bell hit 23 and John O’Neil 29, were 117-8 in reply. Ben Lyons (4-32) was the pick of the Sprotbrough bowlers.
Fishlake thirds beat Darfield thirds by seven wickets. Batting first, Darfield were all out for 122 - Charlie Kay taking 4-30 and James Yeaman 3-26.
Openers Kevin Pearson (42) and Mark Hudson (32) got the visitors off to a solid start with Kay weighing in with an unbeaten 29.
Mexborough Athletic slumped to a seven-wicket defeat at Hoylandswaine. Opener Steven Honeyman (54) was the mainstay of the Athletic knock of 119 all out. Junior James Hobson took 2-19 in Hoylanswaine’s 120-3.
Rossington Main beat visiting Higham by 160 runs. The highlight of Main’s match-winning 240-5 was a superb 112 not out by No 5 Pete Mawdsley. No 7 Matthew Haywood hit an unbeaten 41. The visitors were skittled out for 80 in reply.
Tickhill thirds (146 all out) suffered a four-wicket Division Three defeat at home to Sheffield Transport.
