Yorkshire duly wrapped up victory over Northants by an innings and 120 runs at Headingley.

The visitors, resuming on 149-4, were still 216 behind and only a last wicket stand of 50 prevented an earlier victory.

Northants were all out for 245 with Ryan Sidebottom finishing with 3-34 and Jack Brooks 3-76 against his former county to add to the 5-36 he took in the first innings.

Yorkshire hope Joe Root will be fit to return to first team action against Middlesex at Lord’s on Sunday after his broken thumb.
