Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie will open the new winter programme of speakers for Wombwell Cricket Lovers Society next Thursday.

The former Australian Test star has made an excellent impression in his role at Yorkshire and the Society are delighted to have landed him for their opening night.

He will be accompanied by Dave Callaghan, Yorkshire cricket reporter with BBC Radio Leeds, who will chat with Gillespie.

Venue is Ardsley Oaks WMC, Doncaster Rd, Barnsley (7.45), and non-members are invited.

Others booked for the Society’s programme include Yorkshire chief executive Mark Arthur (Feb 27) former England and Surrey spinner Pat Pocock (Nov 21) and former England captain MJK Smith (March 6).
