In one of just two games to be completed in the Yorkshire County ECB Premier League, Sheffield United lost to Rotherham by 74 runs, leaving them equal on points with Hull at the foot of the table.

Rotherham’s batsmen found consistency to help them to their score of 188, with opener James Moorehouse falling just one short of his half century when he was run out.

His partner, Gurman Randhawa, hit 26 before being caught by Paul Cummins. Stuart Guy’s 28 and Simon Guy’s 33 kept Rotherham ticking over and Jordan Lowe built the momentum with a knock of 37. They declared after seven wickets with 45.3 overs played.

United’s Tom Bollandtook 4-21 off 4.3 overs but the rest of the bowlers struggled.

United’s batsmen never really got going and their highest scorer was Mark Cummins with 29. They finished on 114-9 and ended without a point to show for their troubles.

Doncaster took on Barnsley but the game never got going after rain interrupted play twice.

Gareth Cox and Felix Odell got Doncaster off the mark with 14 and 12 respectively but then the umpire stopped play at 12.26pm. The teams left the green for almost an hour before returning but the restart lasted a matter of minutes and the teams once again had to retreat for the final time, both teams being awarded three points.

Driffield beat Cleethorpes in the only other match to be completed.
