Jonny Bairstow has been released by England and will play for Yorkshire Vikings in their opening T20 fixture against Derbyshire at Headingley tonight (5.40).

He will rejoin the England set-up ahead of Sunday’s Ashes warm-up, four-day game with Essex at Chelmsford.

Barnsley spinner Azeem Rafiq, now recovered from a broken thumb, is back in the Vikings squad.

Yorkshire will play 10 T20 group matches as they aim to reach the quarter-finals and then Finals Day at Edgbaston on August 17.

Last night’s T20 international between England and New Zealand was washed out after just two balls because of rain at The Oval.
