TWO of the South Yorkshire League’s big guns, Whitley Hall and Elsecar, are set to meet for a second successive weekend.
They clashed in a group fixture in the Whitworth Cup last Sunday with Whitley enjoying a comfortable win after making 256-8. Elsecar’s reply was 156.
They are due to meet again on Sunday at Whitley in the Black Sheep Yorkshire Champion of Champions Trophy, the competition for the county’s champion clubs of the previous season.
Whitley are the holders having won it with their stunning victory over Wrenthorpe last season.
Winners of the Whitley-Elsecar tie will be away in the semis to York League side Woodhouse whilst Wrenthorpe entertain Woodlands (who ko’d York).
Whitley are also set to play at Hanging Heaton next week on Bank Holiday Tuesday in the ECB National Club Championship.
Whitley beat Chesterfield whilst Hanging Heaton easily beat Papplewick.
