Joe Root has reflected on a moment to remember after he became the first Yorkshire player to score a maiden Test century at Headingley.

The 22-year-old Sheffield batsman, who has been a revelation since arriving on the international scene over the winter, marked his first England appearance at his home ground with a wonderful innings of 104 on day two of the second Investec Test against New Zealand.

Root arrived at the crease with England wobbling at 67 for three but batted nervelessly and with no little skill.
