A DEFIANT unbeaten 94 from Alex Gosney proved in vain as Rotherham Town ended Doncaster Town’s resistance to force a seven run win in the Yorkshire League.
A stand of 115 between ex-Yorkshire keeper Simon Guy, 70, and Stuart Guy, enabled Rotherham to reach 175.
Gosney, arriving at 23-4, carried the Doncaster reply which looked over at 112-9 but he and Curtis Free added 46 before Free was out in the penultimate over on 168.
Barnsley won the derby clash after restricting Sheffield United to a painfully slow 101-5 in their 55 overs (Paul Cummins 39). They replied with 102-4 (Steve Nuttall 46).
Sheffield Collegiate could make only 120 with Aussie Sam Webster making 59 of them in reply to castleford’s 221-8.
