Dave Coldwell has paid sporting tribute to the 'world class' boxer who beat his own man.

The Rotherham trainer watched as Tom Doran was stopped by British middleweight champion Chris Eubank Junior in four rounds at London’s 02 Arena at the weekend.

Coldwell said he and his fighter were “gutted” by the result but added: “We knew going into the fight Eubank Jr is a very good ,vicious fighter. We knew Tom was an underdog, but he gave it his best. Ultimately, Eubank was too good for him.”

Eubank Jr is now likely to take on unbeaten world middleweight king Gennady Golovkin, known as GG.

Coldwell said: “The Eubank team genuinely believe they win that fight. When you’re going in 100% believing you will win, you have a good chance. he is world class”

Coldwell, however, warned Eubank Jnr he’d be facing a massive task.

“Remember when Ryan (Rhodes) boxed Canelo (Álvarez). You’d watch Canelo on video and see what he is doing and when you are in the ring in the opposite corner you see little subtle things that these elite fighters do.

“It is different from what you see normally and what you are preparing for. You are talking about different level.”
