Brookes eyes title challenge

MEXBOROUGH prospect Stuart Brookes is planning to bounce back from the disappointment of missing out on performing on world champion Clinton Woods' undercard.

A virul infection forced the middleweight to pull out of a contest at Sheffield Arena last Saturday.

But Brookes' team are planning on putting Brookes and brother Scott, a cruiserweight, on a dinner show, possibly at Hellaby Hall, in November.

Unbeaten Brookes, aged 25, had to surrender his Britsh Masters title recently as a mandatory defence date clashed with the chance of boxing in Las Vegas on Ricky Hatton's bill.

So his team are hoping he can compete for that again or try for a Central Area title.

His trainer, Mark Brookes, said: "Stuart was very disappointed to miss out last weekend, but he was under doctor's instructions not to fight.

"He will be back though and is looking for a title."

Brookes is rated 27th in the BritishBoxing, net middleweight ratings. His brother is 16th in his division.
