TWO Sheffield-based table tennis stars have bagged bronze at the British Open Paralympic Championships at the English Institute of Sport.

Barnsley’s Sue Gilroy beat Italian Zorzetto Valerio 3-2 in the Class 4 Ladies category while Will Bayley had a 3-1 win over Maxym Nikolenko of the Ukraine in the Men’s Class 7.

Sue, who has been awarded the MBE, is a teacher and champion of disabled sport.

The event, which features 300 players from 42 countries, finishes tomorrow.
