Boxing: Titans pair prove Sheffield winners travel well

There were plenty of Sheffield boxers out on the road this weekend

Sheffield professional boxing shows may have been a little thin on the ground recently.

Rob Riley's gym has probably been the most active this year with his relatively new venture at Hillsborough, but there hasn't been much, locally, from others.

GBM Sports has been missing, while Ryan Rhodes prefers the Magna Centre in Rotherham.

Big-hitters Matchroom do their bit to try to fill the Arena, but only once in a blue moon.

And Dennis Hobson has been happy to take his bandwagon to Hull from Skate Central recently.

But Sheffield's Titans' gym boxers aren't fussy where they win - as long as they win.

Mikey Harrison and Dylan Trevor, from John Fewkes' Gleadless base, both extended their unblemished records, on a Hobson show at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Hull on Saturday.

Super middleweight Harrison, the Eckington School pupil from Ridgeway, won every round of six and declared himself ready for eight-rounders.

Fewkes said that Harrison's opponent Alex Carter had a winning record yet had left the ring with heavy facial bruising, which told the tale of the fight.

And Hobson predicted: "We are going to win something with Mikey" adding that the 22-year-old could become more aggressive in future combat.

The promoter praised the "conveyor belt" at Titans gym, which included Trevor, 27, who also won every round on referee Howard Foster's card.

The former Dronfield super welterweight, who now lives in North Anston, is like a fine wine, according to Hobson - he gets better with age.
