We asked some of our top local boxing people who they reckon will win the big Wembley showdown between Carl Froch and George Groves.
Clinton Woods. Former IBF world champion.
For me this time, I think Froch is going to try and press the fight early and try and push the pace.
It will be a hard gruelling fight but all the cleaner better shots will be coming from the younger man, Groves - so I am picking him to win on points this time.
Dave Coldwell, promoter
I’ve changed my mind loads of times!
Today, I’m going with Froch. I actually think Groves is faster, more skilled and hits as hard.
But, I think Froch is more durable and more conditioned to be able to have a brutal war which I think he’s going to turn this into.
However, if George sticks to his boxing a bit more and doesn’t get carried away with successful periods in the fight it’s his fight!
I am so lucky to be ringside for this one! Can’t wait!
Jon Buster Keeton, retired boxer
The first fight I put money on Groves to win by Ko 1st round and it nearly happened. I also put money on Froch to win in rounds 8 or 10 needless to say I won nowt! Carl was so wound up and disrespected by Groves; he paid no mind to his speed and power. He got caught off guard and nearly got beat; this time Groves’ tactics aren’t working. He’s not getting under Carl’s skin. The hate’s still there but controlled. A wiser Carl to stop Groves round 7-8.
Glyn Rhodes, trainer.
I believe that Groves will win as I think Carl Froch has gone to the well too many times... but I am sure he under-estimated Groves last time in the ring.
I do hope though that Froch knocks him out his behaviour really annoys me, never mind Carl Froch!
I understand why he’s doing it but I don’t think Froch is going to fall for that the same, this time.
It’s youth vs age but I hope Froch wins.
Lee Connelly, lightweight.
Will Froch realise and correct his mistakes and take strength in knowing he was coming out on top in the later rounds after getting hurt and taking Groves’ best shots, or does he have doubts after Groves showed he can hurt him and expose his defensive flaws? Groves will be confident and knows he can hurt Froch and has his number, but can he finish him?
Froch will come back sharper and stronger. A Froch KO in what I think will be a fantastic fight!
Ross Burkinshaw, Sheffield bantamweight fighter.
I believe Froch will win again this time, I believe he has already won in his mind, he has got the strength and belief to succeed in this re-match.
He will try and drag the fight into the later rounds.
In the first fight I think Froch really underestimated Groves. In the run-up to this second fight, at Wembley, he hasn’t done that one little bit and what happened in their earlier meeting has made Froch really up his game.
