Kell Brook last night declared he is “so ready” for a world title showdown in California in six weeks time.

The Sheffielder, unbeaten in 32 bouts, has had to juggle a variety of potential dates and venues, but now knows he will face Shawn Porter at the Stubhub Center, Carson on August 16.

Brook said: “They put in one date and then another, trying to mess me about. But I’ve seen it all before and I’ll be ready” he said on Sky’s Ringside programme.

The Grenoside man fights for the IBF welterweight title. He said: “I am fitter than ever. I’ve been in training a long time and this is perfect for me.” Brook said he had enough time to pick up his training and then acclimatise to the US time difference.

n Jez Wilson’s bid to fight Chris Eubank Jr has hit a problem; officials are demanding proof that he is ring-ready from the surgeon who fixed his broken jaw. Dronfield’s Lewis Taylor could substitute.
