Kell Brook’s camp are scouring America to find “clones” of world title opponent Shawn Porter.
The Sheffield fighter’s handlers are trying to line up sparring partners with a similar style to the welterweight kingpin.
Brook will be trying to prize the IBF title off Porter in California on August 16 and wants to put the finishing touches on his protracted training camp in the best possible way.
Brook said the sparring over the Pond would be a “very important” part of the build-up. “We’ll be going out there sparring with some Americans that will be imitating Porter, strong, coming forward, chucking wild shots, pressuring me” he told IFL TV.
The Ingle fighter plans to fly out to America some time in the week starting July 21. And he feels he has a point to prove.
“People are saying I am not the real deal. I go on forum (web) sites and all these people saying ‘he’s not been tested; as soon as he steps up he is going to get beat. Everybody is writing me off, that’s why I am excited, all those haters! I am not just going there to make the numbers up... I am putting a show on, I am taking Shawn Porter out.”
