Frankie Gavin claims he has got “the skills” to produce a shock win over Sheffield’s Kell Brook in London on May 30.
The Brummie is set to take on the IBF world champion on a pay per view event at the O2 Arena. With Brook’s team either unable or unwilling to sign Amir Khan, Juan Manuel Marquez, Marcos Maidana or Timothy Bradley, they have set the scene for this intriguing all-British battle. Gavin, 29, who will earn a career-highest purse, said: “World champions ain’t going to be easy fights. I’m not delusional. I’m going to have to perform out of my skin. But I’ve definitely got it in me to do it. I’m very confident Kell can be beaten and hopefully it’s someone with my skills who will do it. Kell is up for it, I am up for it. I think I’ve got the skills to upset Brook and take him out of his rhythm. It’s easier said than done but I’m going to be 100% ready, physically and mentally.”
For Brook it means another quick training camp has to be set up following his win over Jo Jo Dan las month.
